Outdoorsman Climbing and Camping
Camping was always a part of my youth. From the early days of car camping when we would go to Mexico and camp on the beach or in the mountains of Southern California to later adventures that include climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, tallest peak in Africa or the many hikes over the Sierra Nevada, some with friends and family and many solo.
Being an outdoorsman and being in nature offers insight into the beauty and wisdom that is our planet. Climbing, caving, camping, hiking and adventuring in the out of doors enables enhanced inner peace.
King’s Canyon is one of the areas we visit every year. We build dams in the Kings River and swim and hike and cave. In the evenings if you are patient you can normally find bears at roads end during sunset. If you ever get a chance, Cedar Grove is an excellent place to visit. Here are some of the family pictures on Muir’s Rock in King’s Canyon.
Here is a sample Camping Checklist that I have found useful in preparation for simple camping trips. This list has served me well as a starting point over the years. I have added the text list at the end of this page as well.
Have climbed Mt Whitney several times over the years. When bringing people there for the first time, I share this following trail map and Mt. Whitney Gear Check List. This is based on a single day ascent.
Hope it might help you.
